XTT History
The Mighty Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated, made its presence on the campus known at the time as Florida Technological University in 1976; initiating six undergraduate students through the Chi Tau chapter.
During a time that the African American population on campus was minimal, the university set a twenty member requirement that the organization could not meet; in fear that a black fraternity would become militant.
In 1978, FTU became the University of Central Florida. Therefore, the fraternity strived toward future endeavors and initiated three neophytes in 1987, through the Omega Beta Beta chapter, yet the fraternity still did not meet the requirements for establishing a chapter.
Future attempts were made to establish a chapter in 1992, 1994, 1997, 2003, and 2004.
On September 1st, 2005, the supreme council granted the fraternity a chapter and named it Chi Tau Tau, due to the close ties to the local graduate chapter known as Chi Tau.
The chapter has fourteen charter members. They are:
Karthon Lewis III
Issa Kwame Gary Sr.
Byron Duane Washington
Johnny Lee Thompson II
Lester James Favors III
Thomas David Andrews Sr.
Von Eric Gordon
Jerome Ashane Williams
Chester Alphonso Jones Jr.
Benjamin Jerome Rivers Jr.
James Curtis Cook
Sergio Ishmael Cruz
Gerren Markea Bray
Randy Dozier Jr.
Now the fraternity can make its mark and provide the opportunity for young men with like ideals to unite together in a fraternal bond.
